A common thread in all of my paintings is a close investigation of the natural world. I strive to convey both the simple beauty and the delicacy found in repeating patterns present in nature. Living as we do in a highly technological world, motivated by the continual resolve to “get it done” and to “multi-task,” these details can be easily overlooked and forgotten as the urban consumes the rural. I want my paintings to offer a moment's pause -- to prompt stillness and reflection -- by offering a visual counterpoint to our fast-paced life, reminding us as a viewer of the sacredness of the natural world and our need to live in communion with it.

Over the past two years, my work has focused consistently on the conviction that everything in our universe is connected. This conviction is based on the fact that everything is made up of energy, which prompted my personal investigation of the physics of nature as well as various spiritual traditions and their underlying relationships.

Each painting intimately explores this idea of connection through the use of thin washes of iridescent paint and repeating brush strokes, creating a visual dialog inspired by Alaska's Interior.
